Quantifying Gains in
Solar Project Value
from Quality Satellite and Ground Data

Date: Wednesday, March 1, 2017
Time: 10 - 11 a.m. Pacific  |  1 - 2 p.m. Eastern

The U.S. solar industry grew dramatically in 2016, with total new utility and commercial installations reaching nearly 12 GW according to GTM Research. Growth, however, has led to greater competition for projects and lower energy prices. Therefore, project developers are looking for ways to understand and reduce the uncertainty of plant performance inputs to optimize project returns.

This webinar will present detailed information on how various types of satellite and ground measurements can impact project value during the development stage. Experts from GroundWork Renewables and Clean Power Research will describe how quality data collection at a development site can be used to reduce the uncertainty of long-term plant production predictions.

You'll also learn:
  • How production model inputs (irradiance, transposition, inter-annual variability, soiling, etc.) are impacted by underlying measurement uncertainty.
  • How the resulting energy production uncertainty affects project value.
  • How return on investment is calculated with high quality ground and satellite data.
You'll have the opportunity to ask questions during the live Q&A. Sign-up now to join us on March 1!

About the Speakers

Justin Robinson
Technical Director
GroundWork Renewables

Justin is GroundWork’s equipment and data specialist. He leverages international industry standards, best practices and proven techniques to reduce the uncertainty of GroundWork’s MET designs.

Justin has focused on solar resource measurement for 12 years, working closely with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and Sandia National Laboratories.

Justin regularly attends conferences as a panelist and speaker on solar resource, including: The American Solar Energy Society, Sandia PV Systems Symposium, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

John Gaglioti
Principal Engineer
GroundWork Renewables

John leads GroundWork’s system design efforts. He is a mechanical engineer, and has been working in the renewable energy space for 16 years. John has developed over 1 GW of solar and wind projects in California, Nevada and Arizona.

John’s most successful projects include the 280 MW California Flats Solar Project and 125 MW Dry Lake Wind Power Projects in Arizona.

John began his career as a graduate student working on an NREL grant to measure and characterize the wind resource in Arizona.
